What Is Brow Lamination? – Everything You Need To Know

Do you have thin and sparse eyebrows that often lose their shape? You’re not alone. Now you can get full and well-shaped eyebrows without having to put up with the pain of getting a new tattoo. With browlift or brow lamination as it is also called, you can get the illusion of full eyebrows.

What Is Brow lamination?

Brow lamination makes your eyebrows fuller with more volume, looks good in shapes and gives the eyebrows a lift. With a brow lamination, your eyebrow strands are shaped to the desired shape with the help of permanent liquids. The treatment ends with coloring of your eyebrows.

A brow lamination lasts for about 4-8 weeks depending on how your eyebrows grow and how you take care of them.

What is browlift? (Brow lamination)

Browlift is a permanent of your eyebrows. A permanent liquid is spread over the eyebrows so that they can be brushed and shaped as you want and then stay that way. When you do a browlift, they are brushed upwards.

When you brush the eyebrows upwards, they look much fuller and you look more alert than if the eyebrow straws were pointing downwards.

When the eyebrows are permanent, you can wake up with them pointing downwards, but you can quickly fix this by brushing and shaping the eyebrows upwards again.

They will then stay that way during the day and you do not have to fix your eyebrows with bruises that you would have needed otherwise.

Where do you do browlift?

You do a browlift at a beauty salon or at a hair salon. A browlift treatment usually includes coloring of the eyebrows.

How does browlift work?

When you do a browlift, different permanent fluids will be applied to your eyebrows. There is nothing that hurts or stings.

During the entire treatment, you will have to lie down on your back. You choose if you want to close your eyes or look during the treatment.

This is how browlift / brow lamination goes to:

  • Your eyebrows are cleaned of any dirt and oils
  • The eyebrows are shaped
  • The first permanent liquid is applied and allowed to sit for anywhere from 10-15 minutes depending on the hair quality
  • The second permanent liquid is applied and lasts as long as the first
  • If you have chosen to also color your eyebrows, it is now done after the permanent
  • Finally, a caring creatine serum is applied to the eyebrows

Why you use two permanent fluids when you do a browlift is because the first round makes the straws open up. The second time is to shape your eyebrows.

Think about this before you do a browlift

Before you do a brow lift, you should be unmade up especially at the eyebrows, also avoid face creams and oils. Please take a shower as your eyebrows must not come into contact with water after a brow lift.

Avoid using tan without sun for a week before you do a brow lift as it can become stained around the eyebrows due to the permanent liquids that end up on the skin around the eyebrows.

If you have open wounds or crusts at the eyebrows or skin nearby, wait to do a browlift, wait until it has healed. The permanent fluid stings in wounds and can irritate the skin and make healing slow.

After a brow lift, you should think about this: (24h-48h after)

  • Avoid getting your eyebrows wet
  • Do not bathe
  • Do not exercise
  • Avoid makeup
  • Avoid creams
  • Do not scratch your eyebrows

Why you should avoid water and heat after browlift is for the permanent to settle properly and it takes up to 24 hours or 48 hours. Always check with the salon that did it.

Can I put on make-up after browlift?

Not immediately after, but after 24-48 hours, you can put on make-up as usual. You can also use face creams after that time. Check with the person who did your browlift how long it will take before you can put on make-up.

It is usually 24 hours to wait to put on make-up after a brow lift, but some say 48 hours.

Does browlift hurt?

No it feels nothing. The only thing that can be that you get restless from lying still for so long. A treatment takes 45-60 minutes depending on how the liquids act on your eyebrows.

How long does browlift last?

A browlift lasts for about 4-8 weeks depending on how your eyebrows grow and how you take care of them in the meantime.

If you wash or lubricate your face with oils, your browlift will not last as long. If you use oils, try not to have it on your eyebrows. Oils dissolve permanently.

How often should you do a browlift?

You can redo your browlift after 8 weeks or if you think your eyebrows have lost their shape after 6 weeks, you will redo them then.

The color, on the other hand, can become weaker already after 3 weeks, so it is only possible to do a coloring at a salon or at home yourself with eyebrow color.

Is browlift dangerous?

No browlift is not dangerous. The only ones used are permanent liquids, paint and creatine. There is nothing dangerous for us.

What is the difference between browlift and microblading?

Browlift is a permanent of your eyebrows, microblading is a cosmetic tattoo where you tattoo in straw by straw. It differs both in price and durability.

Browlift

In browlift, your own eyebrows are permanent for a better shape and structure. By brushing your eyebrows upwards, your eyebrows feel fuller.

You can brush and shape your eyebrows as you like and they will keep that shape all day.

Browlift is not something that hurts, unlike a microblading that can sting and sting.

Microblading

Microblading is also called cosmetic tattoo and is as it sounds a tattoo of eyebrows. With microblading, you tattoo straw by straw into the eyebrows to get a natural and fuller result.

Microblading is more expensive to do than browlift but lasts longer. A microblading can last for up to 1-3 years, but then you have to make a return visit after about 3 months.

Can you do a browlift at home?

Yes you can do browlift yourself at home. There are browlift kits you can order at home for around $30. The downside to doing it yourself at home is that it does not last as long as if you were doing it at a salon.

In addition to the kit, you will need:

  • Plastic foil
  • Tops
  • Cotton pads
  • Pure mascara brush
  • Micellar water for extra cleaning of the brows

Review: This is the result of a brow lift

Even before I tested Brow lift, I have been a frequent user of brow soap for a few months. It is a soap that you, together with a spoolie, use to brush up the brows and thus get the same effect as with a brow lift, ie that you brush up the brows.

It is also one of the best options for getting the straws really held in place all day, as I previously bothered that the effect of brushed eyebrows subsides during the day.

The difference between a Brow lift at a salon and a make-up product at home – yes, it is that the result at a salon is maintained for several weeks while you wash off your brow soap every night.

I was simply ready to try something that kept the effect longer.

The result immediately after was… very eye-catching. But since I have done some eyebrow treatments before, I did not get a total shock, it always settles after a few days and looks more natural.

The first thing I discovered was that the eyebrows did not keep their shape all the time – which I had thought.

In other words, you do not wake up with perfectly brushed and separated eyebrows, but you need to style them every morning.

The difference from before the brow lift is that they stay the way you style them.

Another thing I did not know about before, is that after a few weeks new light and short straws start to grow.

It is true that you always lose both hair from lashes and eyebrows, without it being noticeable, but here it becomes very clear as your new hairs are not in the same direction as those that are permanent.

There is nothing visible if you do not look closely, but it is good to know that the growth process of the eyebrows will be visible and that they are simply not “perfect” for eight weeks, even if permanently lasts that long.

Does the brow lift fit everyone?

I would call Brow lift a brow treatment 2.0. If you are completely new to eyebrows, or want something simpler, then I would personally recommend treatments with color and shaping of the eyebrows that also give a nice result – although not as dramatic as that they are permanently upwards.

It will take a bit of you for the brows to look really good, even after the treatment. An eyebrow brush in the bag to be able to brush for them from time to time for example.

So you are someone who likes to put time and focus on eyebrows and who loves to try new treatments (like me!) – go for it!

Otherwise, there are many other eyebrow treatments that also highlight your eyebrows in a superb way.

Summary – Browlift / Brow lamination

Browlift is done on your own brows as permanent to change the shape and structure of the brows. It does not hurt, the only things that are used are permanent fluids and creatine treatment afterwards.

Since the eyebrows can be brushed in any direction afterwards, you can wake up with the brow hairs pointing downwards. But just brush them up in the shape you want and they will stay that way.

You therefore do not need any bristle or brow wax to make the shape last a whole day.

A browlift lasts for about 4-8 weeks depending on how your eyebrows grow and how you take care of the eyebrows.
