How do you get longer & fuller eyelashes?

Who does not want long and full eyelashes? I think most people want it. Fortunately, there are several things we can do to make lashes grow better – but also to make them look longer.

You get longer eyelashes by using a lash serum or making your own lash oil at home. Oils that are good for your lashes are avocado oil, coconut oil and castor oil. What these oils have in common is that they strengthen and moisturize the lashes, which makes them fuller and longer.

To quickly make the lashes look fuller and longer, you can bend them with an eyelash curler and use mascara, I will explain how to do it below.

How to get longer and fuller eyelashes with these 7 tips!

Here I thought I would go through the best tips for how to care for and get longer and fuller lashes over time, but also how you can get it easily and quickly with small simple tricks.

1. Care for the lashes with eyelash serum / eyelash oil

The most important thing about getting longer lashes is that you care for and take care of them.

You can use lash serum or various oils such as coconut oil, castor oil and avocado oil. They protect and increase the growth of your lashes.

Using serum or oils on the lashes means that over time they will become longer and fuller. They also become more durable for mascara and lash curlers. But be patient, it can take up to 6-8 weeks before you see any difference.

Longer eyelashes with serum

You can buy a lash serum that is there to give longer and fuller lashes. There are several brands on the market, the most famous is from XLash which is also my personal favorite.

A serum goes a long way, once you have reached the length you want, it is enough to apply the lash room every other day or three times a week to maintain the length, but also to strengthen the lashes.

The disadvantage of using lash serum is that not everyone can tolerate it. Some people get swollen and red eyes, so test yourself.

If you get an allergic reaction, you should stop using the product immediately.

2. Never sleep with mascara!

Never fall asleep with your mascara on. When we sleep, it is easy for us to rub our face against the pillow or scratch our eyes unknowingly.

Because mascara has a drying effect, they wear on the lashes and make them fall off more easily. Therefore, it is good if the lashes are allowed to rest. Sleeping with mascara can also irritate your eyes and you can get eyes that are inflamed.

3. Avoid old makeup

An old mascara also wears on your lashes as it becomes extra drying for your lashes.

After you have opened a mascara, the shelf life is three months. Then you have to throw it away even if there is a product left.

In a mascara, bacteria thrive, therefore the durability of a mascara is shorter than that of other make-up. In addition to drying out an old mascara, it can also give you eye inflammation.

4. Do not rub your eyes

By rubbing your eyes, you will tear off your eyelashes and it will make them more sparse and fragile.

Does it itch in the eyes? Try to go without eye makeup for a few days to see if it gets better or get moisturizing eye drops if they itch due to. that they are dry.

5. Bend your eyelashes properly

When you bend your eyelashes with an eyelash curler, you open up your eye and you look more alert. It also makes the lashes look long.

But an eyelash curler can also wear on your lashes, especially if you use it incorrectly. Avoid bending your lashes with mascara on, it can cause them to fall out.

6. Use eyelash primer

Always apply an eyelash primer on the lashes before applying mascara. This means that you get fuller and longer lashes.

Once you have applied your eyelash primer – let it dry before continuing with your mascara for best results. Many eyelash primers also take care of your lashes.

7. Apply the right mascara

It is important that you use the right mascara to get long and full lashes. Do you use e.g. a mascara that is there to separate the lashes, you will not get the same results as a mascara that is there to lengthen and give volume.

If you are just looking for longer lashes, there are mascaras that only do that and do not give any volume. If you just want plump lashes, there are mascaras that only give it.

And of course, mascaras that meet both length and volume.

A waterproof mascara will hold your lashes in place better than a regular mascara. The downside of a waterproof mascara is that it wears more on your lashes.

How to get longer eyelashes at home?

You can mix your own lash serum at home. There are several good oils that help the eyelashes grow, including coconut, castor and avocado oil. By using them separately or mixing them together, you can make a simple home remedy.

You can easily make your own lash serum at home without paying expensive money. Coconut, avocado and castor oil are examples of good oils we often have at home that make our eyelashes stronger and more durable.

Recipe for your own eyelash serum (home remedy)

You need:

  • Coconut oil
  • Castor oil
  • Avocado oil
  • Empty small plastic bottle
  • Funnel

Do this:

  1. Start by heating the coconut oil so that it flows, then pour in the coconut oil to half of the bottle
  2. Continue with castor oil and fill almost all the way up but save some space for the avocado oil – use the funnel when pouring in the oils to avoid smudges
  3. When you have poured in all the oils, shake the bottle well so that everything is mixed

Every night after you have washed off your make-up, apply your lash oil on the lashes (can also be worn on the eyebrows). Then go to bed with it on and wash it off in the morning.

Coconut oil and avocado oil can be found in the grocery store and castor oil is available at the pharmacy.

Longer eyelashes with castor oil

Castor oil has long been known to be used on eyelashes to make them longer and fuller. In addition to being nutritious and containing minerals, vitamins and good fats, castor oil keeps the microorganisms in check which can prevent the growth of lashes.

Clean the lashes thoroughly before applying castor oil on them and leave it on overnight to work. Then wash it off in the morning. Do this every night.

Castor oil can be found in most pharmacies.

Make-up removal with coconut oil

Coconut oil also contains good vitamins and minerals. Using coconut oil to remove eye makeup, I know many people do and I do sometimes.

It dissolves the make-up well while at the same time caring for the lashes and the skin around the eyes.

Use the coconut oil as a makeup remover and then wash it off immediately. It will act as a conditioner on your lashes and care for them that way.

You can also apply extra coconut oil on the lashes only before going to bed.

Care for your eyelashes with Vaseline

Vaseline is good for a lot. Using mascara every day dries out your lashes and they need moisture just like your hair. Lubricate your lashes with Vaseline after washing off your make-up.

By lubricating and caring for the lashes, they will not come off as easily. Which allows them to grow better. Vaseline is also cheap and lasts longer.

What to eat to get longer lashes?

Eat a diet that is high in antioxidants, vitamins, healthy fats and protein. Examples of such things are citrus fruits, avocados, lettuce leaves. Almonds, bananas and peanuts are also good for fuller and longer lashes as they contain vitamin H (Biotin).

Just like our body, skin, hair, nails and even our lashes feel good from a diet that contains antioxidants, vitamins and healthy fats.

No matter how much you struggle with serum and oils on your lashes, diet plays a big role.

False eyelashes & eyelash extensions

If you want to cheat on you long and full lashes, there are also other tricks you can use, I will go through three of them down here.

False eyelashes

False eyelashes are the cheapest and fastest way to get long and full lashes. It is available in most stores to buy.

Using false eyelashes can be tricky in the beginning before you learn, so be patient. Once you have learned, it is quick and easy.

False eyelashes are perfect to use if you are going to a party and want that little bit extra.

If you have false eyelashes on, never sleep with them on and do not wear them away from your lashes. It will wear on your own lashes.

Fringe extension

Another option to get long and full lashes is to do a lash placement. Then you glue a false eyelash on one of your own lashes and in that way you fill in the entire row of lashes. You can choose to make single lashes or volume lashes.

To do a lash extension, you need to visit a lash stylist who can put lashes on you. Be sure who you go to, there are many rogue fringe stylists. Check out their photos on social media first.

An eyelash extension can last for up to 3-5 weeks. You can also do a refill after 3 weeks to maintain a nice look on the lashes.

Eyelash extensions wear on the lashes

Lash extensions wear on your lashes so I would not recommend wearing it for longer periods, it is good if your own lashes can rest.

I myself have used eyelash extensions for periods. It has usually been during the holidays when I do not put on so much make-up but still want to look fit and fresh.

Lashlift

The latest trend in lashes is lashlift. Here, no loose lashes are put on, but you make a permanent eyelash bend on your own lashes. The result can last for up to 6 weeks.

You can do this if you do not like eyelash extensions or false eyelashes but want a natural result with a lively and open eye.

The diet also plays a role in making your lashes longer. You need to get in you healthy fats, vitamins and antioxidants.
